Romance: I love you

Romance is my guilty pleasure.

I'm a sap for anything that spells out love. I adore cliches. I am smitten with the boy meets girl, and then drama, love, drama, love, drama, and then maybe end of the relationship, but of course it's not because everything ends with happily ever after plot.

Where things like evil stepmothers, curses, time or memory loss doesn't matter.

Because these two people were just, against all odds, meant to be!

And then even if they don't end up together, it's okay, because they'll always have that love. That one great love story.

I think these movies have ruined me. In a new relationship I often find myself having this great expectation of what love is supposed to be, and it's almost always not the way I pictured it in my head.

Every trouble we face, I always see myself second guessing the relationship. But I think it's something everyone goes through and although I think it shouldn't be ignored, I also feel that it shouldn't hinder the one great love story that couples are meant to be hopeful for.

So, what's your favorite love story? And has it ruined you too?

The movies above are some of the stories that have touched me (and I can remember from the top of my head.)

  1. what i find weird is i'll be watching a movie and an emotive scene will come on, like 2 people are reunited, or someone will be looking at a picture of an old best friend - anything - and then the music starts, and theres close ups of the faces, real nice light etc and then suddenly i feel like the scene is really emotional. like maybe i am really bored with the movie and i think the story's stupid - but once the music starts i cant help it i just feel really emotional.

  2. Then don't let them ruin you further. Don't let their (crazy, but admittedly enjoyable) antics define your expectations. Comments aside, the Doctor and Rose's story has made me tear up on a couple of occasions. And I agree with Jake, music definitely cements the scene.

  3. I'd say that I hate romantic movies because they're fake and always impossible but everytime one of those movies come on I'd actually watch it til the end and think "that was nice". Then I'd hate myself for liking it. So I guess every love story ruins me haha
Just always have to like them for their entertainment value I guess and not let them infiltrate your head further
